A proposal at our November forum meeting to Change the Name from Purfleet to Purfleet-on-Thames is gaining momentum. Full support for the change has been received from our three local councillors, leader of the Council Rob Gledhill and additional support has started to come in from other Thurrock Councillor’s. At our January forum / AGM meeting an official proposal to change the name received an over whelming majority in favour. Purfleet Centre Regeneration Ltd., developers for our new town and Swan Housing fully support the change. To back their commitment the developers are promoting the development as ‘Purfleet on Thames’.

The world’s leading property market exhibition in March at Cannes, France, where Thurrock Council’s chief executive Lyn Carpenter, planning chief Andy Millard, and director of “place” Steve Cox were promoting Thurrock and ‘Purfleet on Thames’.
