The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Beacons event at Purfleet-on-Thames on 2nd June 2022 was the biggest event here for over 100 years, in fact since Winston Churchill banned the annual Purfleet Fair by an Act of Parliament in 1910. Around 4,000 people turned up to enjoy this historical day

Preparation
Over 300 feet of Victorian riverside railings were painted blue and gold over a six week period by dedicated volunteers, linking the newly refurbished Elizabeth Tower with our Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Beacons event. The clock face of the tower, often referred to as Big Ben has been restored in its original colours of blue and gold.
